Christina Hanzis joined the Bing Center for Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, in January 2009 after completing a Bachelor’s in Science from Penn State University, focusing in infectious disease and health policies. She began working in the Center last summer as an intern under the direction of Dr. Steven Treon and actively participated as a team member during the 5th International Conference on WM in Stockholm, Sweden, October 2008. Christina is currently working on many corollary studies, mainly the familial study. This particular study focusing on the Familial structure of patients with WM will help us gain knowledge about the intricate genetics of this disease and any common comparisons and variables that will bring us closer to understanding of the cause of Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia.
